Maiden Newton and Cattistock Stores are family run village shops in the heart of Dorset. Run by Andy Hodder and his wife Donna who have owned the stores for 5 years. Since becoming owners of the two village stores, extensive work has been carried out to improve the appearance and character of the buildings. The fully refurbished Cattistock Stores and Post Office is now light and airy and plays host to a delightful Tea Room. Improvements to the exterior and interior of Maiden Newton Stores are due to be carried out Summer 2016.

Our aim is to make our customers happy and keep the shelves well stocked with a variety of local produce, plenty of monthly offers and overall a friendly place to shop. We fully encourage customers to shop at smaller independent stores so comments and requests from customers are always welcome. Pop in store or email us at office@your-villagestores.co.uk

It is part of The Melbury Team and has served the local community for many generations. The original building has been added to over the centuries to the building we see today. It has a bell tower with a peel of six bells. It also boasts the original Norman door on the north of the building. This door is no longer used and is reputed to still retain the original rivets. It is also claimed to be one of the oldest church doors in the country. For more information visit, www.stmarysmaidennewton.co.uk

Maiden Newton railway station is located on the heart of the Wessex line between Bristol and Weymouth. Opened on 20 January 1857 by the Wilts, Somerset and Weymouth Railway with the section of their route from Yeovil Pen Mill to Weymouth. This completed their main line from Chippenham to Weymouth, the first part of which had opened in 1848. The station retains two platforms as it is a passing place on the single line between Dorchester and Yeovil. The entrance is on the northbound platform, the side closest to the village.
